Rev Dr Herman Nienaber

Minister of the Word

Herman started his ministry in South Africa in the early nineteen nineties. He served as a minister in a large congregation with seven full-time ministers for 17 years. He first served in Youth ministry, then Student and Young Adult ministry and later as the overseeing minister for Discipleship and Missional Outreach through Alpha.

He moved to Australia in 2011 where he first served as a minister in Canberra for three years, before moving to Perth in 2014 where he served for seven years as the minister at Trinity Uniting Church in the City.

Herman is passionate about evangelism, mission, discipleship, social justice and seeing congregations reach their full potential as a biblical functioning community. Herman is married and has three children.

Julie Ridden

Children & Family Pastor

Julie has grown up in the Uniting Church and has served in ministry with children or young people since a teenager. She is passionately committed to passing on our faith to the next generation, thankful and appreciative of the firm grounding in Christianity that she received from her parents and extended church family.

Julie has had a 23 year career as a primary school teacher, and left teaching a couple of years ago to discern her call to ministry.

Julie has been attending Carramar Uniting Church and has been the secretary of their church council, Presbytery and Synod representative, lay preacher, Bible study leader and youth leader. In the wider Uniting Church, she is a member of the Synod Standing Committee.
